6.1. Manuscripts are accepted in English in LaTeX format (source files), accompanied by a PDF version prepared using the Journal template.
6.2. The recommended length is 6–20 pages, including figures, tables, and references.
6.3. Manuscripts should be submitted to ejmca@enu.kz. Each submission must be accompanied by a cover letter confirming that the work has not been published previously and is not under consideration elsewhere, and providing information on all authors (full name, affiliation, e-mail address, and ORCID).
6.4. Every manuscript is screened for plagiarism; the originality of the text must be at least 75% (see clause 9.3 for details).
6.5. Each manuscript must contain:
6.6. Figures and tables must be submitted in high resolution: at least 300 dpi, and at least 600 dpi for line art. Mathematical expressions must be typeset using LaTeX.
7.1. Manuscripts must follow the IMRaD structure and include the following elements in the order indicated:
7.2. For theoretical papers, the structure “Introduction – Problem Statement – Main Results – Proofs – Conclusion” is permitted, provided that all mandatory elements (title, author information, abstract, keywords, AMS (2010) codes, declarations, and references) are retained.
8.1. All manuscripts submitted to EJMCA undergo double-blind peer review: reviewers do not know the names and affiliations of the authors, and authors do not know the identities of the reviewers. Anonymity ensures an objective and impartial assessment.
8.2. Each manuscript first undergoes a preliminary screening by the editorial team, which assesses its conformity with the Journal’s scope and requirements, its originality (plagiarism check), and its scientific level. Manuscripts that do not pass the preliminary screening are rejected without external review, and the reasons for rejection are communicated to the authors.
8.3. Following preliminary approval, the manuscript is sent to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field and have no conflict of interest with the authors (see Section 11).
8.4. Reviewers evaluate the scientific novelty of the work, the correctness of the methods and proofs, the validity of the conclusions, and the contribution to applied mathematics or computer science.
8.5. On the basis of the reviewers’ reports, the Editor-in-Chief (or an editor designated by the Editor-in-Chief), taking into account the opinion of the Editorial Board, makes one of the following decisions:
8.6. Authors are notified of the decision. Where revision is required, the revised version, accompanied by a detailed response to each of the reviewers’ comments, must be submitted within four months. A manuscript submitted after this deadline is treated as a new submission.
8.7. A manuscript is accepted for publication only after it has passed the plagiarism check, received positive evaluations from two independent reviewers, and been approved by decision of the editorial team.
8.8. Detailed author guidelines are available on the Journal’s official website: https://ejmca.enu.kz.
9.1. EJMCA is guided by the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (https://publicationethics.org/core-practices) and applies the COPE-recommended flowcharts when handling alleged misconduct. Compliance with these principles is mandatory for authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial staff.
9.2. Originality and Absence of Concurrent Submission
By submitting a manuscript to EJMCA, authors confirm that:
9.3. Plagiarism Screening
Before being sent for peer review, all manuscripts are checked using the Turnitin plagiarism detection system (https://home.turnitin.com/sign-in). The originality of the text must be at least 75%. The editor analyzes the similarity report, taking into account the nature of the matches (properly formatted quotations, reference lists, and standard phrasing). Manuscripts containing improper borrowing are rejected regardless of the originality percentage.
9.4. Violations of Publication Ethics
The following are not permitted: plagiarism, including self-plagiarism; fabrication and falsification of data and results; duplicate publication; improper image manipulation; citation manipulation (coerced or reciprocal citation); guest, gift, and ghost authorship; and the use of paper mills.
9.5. Handling of Alleged Violations
Where a violation is suspected, the editorial team conducts an investigation in accordance with the COPE flowcharts: it requests explanations from the authors and, where necessary, contacts the institution with which the authors are affiliated. Reports of possible violations are accepted at ejmca@enu.kz. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the manuscript may be rejected; for a published article, a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction notice may be issued (Section 15).
9.6. Duties of Authors
Authors must cite the sources they use correctly, provide the underlying data at the request of the editorial team, participate in the peer review process and make the necessary revisions, and promptly notify the editorial team of any errors discovered in a published article.
9.7. Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers must provide an objective and well-reasoned assessment; maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript and refrain from using its content for their own purposes; draw attention to significant published works that the authors have not cited; decline to review in the event of a conflict of interest or insufficient expertise; and report any suspected ethical violations to the editor.
9.8. Duties of Editors
Editors make decisions solely on the basis of the scholarly merit of a manuscript and its relevance to the Journal’s scope; safeguard the anonymity of reviewers and the confidentiality of manuscripts; refrain from using unpublished materials in their own research; and ensure that corrections, clarifications, and retractions are published where necessary.
9.9. Data and Reproducibility
Methods, algorithms, and source data must be described in sufficient detail to permit reproduction of the results. The Journal encourages the deposition of data and software code in open repositories; the article must include a data availability statement.
9.10. Ethical Oversight
If a study involves human participants or the use of personal data, including medical data, the authors must confirm that approval has been obtained from an ethics committee and that informed consent has been obtained from the participants.
10.1. An author is a person who has made a substantial contribution to the conception, methodology, or acquisition or analysis of the results; has participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript; has approved the final version; and agrees to be accountable for the content of the work.
10.2. Persons who do not meet these criteria are listed in the Acknowledgements section. Guest, gift, and ghost authorship is not permitted.
10.3. The contribution of each author is specified in accordance with the CRediT taxonomy (https://credit.niso.org/).
10.4. The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the editorial team and confirms that all co-authors have approved the submission and the final version of the manuscript.
10.5. Changes to the composition or order of authors after submission are possible only upon a written request from the corresponding author, accompanied by a justification and the written consent of all authors, including any author being removed. After a manuscript has been accepted for publication, changes to the authorship are, as a rule, not permitted.
10.6. All authors are encouraged to provide their ORCID iD.
11.1. A conflict of interest is a circumstance in which financial, professional, or personal interests may influence (or may be perceived to influence) the objectivity of the preparation, review, or evaluation of a manuscript.
11.2. Authors must disclose in the Declarations section all sources of funding and any potential conflicts of interest (grants, employment, consulting, patents, and personal relationships). In the absence of such conflicts, the following statement is provided: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
11.3. A reviewer must decline to review a manuscript if, within the past three years, the reviewer has had joint publications or projects with any of the authors, is employed by the same organization, has a personal relationship with the authors, or has any other interest in the outcome of the review.
11.4. An editor who has a conflict of interest with respect to a manuscript does not participate in its consideration; the manuscript is reassigned to another editor.
12.1. Members of the Editorial Board, including the Editor-in-Chief, may publish articles in EJMCA on the same basis as other authors.
12.2. A manuscript authored or co-authored by a member of the Editorial Board or by the Editor-in-Chief is assigned to another editor (a Deputy Editor-in-Chief or an Editorial Board member with no conflict of interest), who independently organizes the peer review and makes the decision.
12.3. An author who is a member of the Editorial Board is excluded from all stages of the consideration of his or her manuscript and has no access to information about the reviewers or to editorial correspondence concerning the manuscript.
12.4. Such manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review under the same conditions as all other submissions.
13.1. General Provisions
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, DALL·E, and others, can improve the efficiency of working with text; however, their use must be transparent, and responsibility for scientific content and for the decisions made always remains with humans. The provisions of this section are based on the COPE position statement “Authorship and AI tools.”
13.2. Guidelines for Authors
13.2.1. AI cannot be an author or co-author of an article, since it cannot take responsibility for the content, approve the final version, or respond to inquiries from the editorial team.
13.2.2. AI may be used for language editing, grammar checking, and improving the readability and structure of the text, provided that the author verifies the output.
13.2.3. Generative AI must not be used to create or alter research data and results, or figures and illustrations; the reference list must not be compiled with the aid of AI without verification of each source.
13.2.4. Where AI is the object of the research or forms part of the methodology, its use must be described in detail in the Materials and Methods section, specifying the name of the model, its version, its developer, and the parameters of use.
13.2.5. Authors bear full responsibility for all parts of the work prepared with the assistance of AI, including the accuracy of facts and references and the absence of plagiarism and bias.
13.2.6. If generative tools were used in preparing the manuscript, the authors must include the following statement before the reference list:
“During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL / SERVICE] for [PURPOSE OF USE]. After using this tool, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.”
No such statement is required for spelling and grammar checking tools that are not based on generative models.
13.3. Guidelines for Reviewers
13.3.1. Reviewers must not upload manuscripts or any parts thereof to publicly available AI tools, as doing so breaches confidentiality and the intellectual property rights of the authors.
13.3.2. A review must reflect the reviewer’s own expert assessment; the preparation of a review with the aid of generative AI is not permitted. The reviewer is personally responsible for the content of the report.
13.3.3. If undisclosed use of AI is suspected, the reviewer must report this to the editor without drawing definitive conclusions on the basis of automated AI detectors, which may produce false positives.
13.4. Guidelines for Editors
13.4.1. Publication decisions must not be made with the aid of generative AI; responsibility for the editorial process rests solely with the editors.
13.4.2. Editors must not upload manuscripts, cover letters, reviews, or other confidential information to publicly available AI tools.
13.4.3. Secure, specialized AI-based tools (for example, for plagiarism detection or reviewer selection) may be used, provided that they ensure the confidentiality and security of data in accordance with University regulations.
14.1. Authors have the right to appeal a decision to reject a manuscript within 30 days of the date of notification by sending a reasoned letter to ejmca@enu.kz, including a substantiated response to the reviewers’ comments.
14.2. Appeals are considered by the Editor-in-Chief or, if the decision was made by the Editor-in-Chief or the Editor-in-Chief has a conflict of interest, by an Editorial Board member who did not take part in the original consideration. Where necessary, an additional independent reviewer is engaged.
14.3. A decision on the appeal is, as a rule, made within 30 days and is final. A repeat appeal concerning the same manuscript will not be considered.
14.4. Complaints concerning the work of the editorial team, the peer review process, review turnaround times, or possible ethical violations should be sent to ejmca@enu.kz with “Complaint” in the subject line. The editorial team acknowledges receipt of the complaint and considers it in accordance with COPE guidance. A complaint concerning the actions of a particular editor is considered by another member of the Editorial Board.
14.5. Substantiated comments on published articles are accepted at ejmca@enu.kz and may be published as a commentary together with a response from the authors.
15.1. A correction (Corrigendum / Erratum) is published if an identified error does not affect the main conclusions of the article.
15.2. An Expression of Concern is published if there is information about a possible violation but the investigation has not yet been completed or its results are inconclusive.
15.3. An article is retracted (Retraction) if:
15.4. The decision to retract an article is made by the Editorial Board in accordance with the COPE Retraction Guidelines. A retraction notice stating the reason is published on the Journal’s website; the article remains accessible, marked “RETRACTED,” and information on the retraction is transmitted to indexing databases.
16.1. The personal data of authors and reviewers (names, e-mail addresses, and affiliations) are used solely for editorial and publishing purposes and are not disclosed to third parties, except for information published as part of an article. Personal data are processed in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
17.1. The Editorial Board is composed of leading scholars from Kazakhstan and abroad in the fields of mathematics and computer science.
17.2. The Editor-in-Chief provides overall leadership of the Journal and makes final publication decisions; the Deputy Editors-in-Chief act in the Editor-in-Chief’s absence and oversee thematic areas; the Executive Editor organizes the editorial process and communication with authors and reviewers; and the Editorial Board members conduct scientific evaluation, select reviewers, and ensure compliance with publication ethics.
17.3. The current composition of the Editorial Board is available on the Journal’s website: https://ejmca.enu.kz.
18.1. Manuscripts are evaluated solely on the basis of their scholarly merit, regardless of the authors’ race, ethnic origin, nationality, gender, age, religion, political views, or institutional affiliation. The Editorial Board guarantees that all publication decisions are made fairly, objectively, and ethically.
19.1. EJMCA does not charge authors any fees for submission, peer review, or publication of articles.
